PG&E program layering is when a multifamily customer or property owner is able to participate in multiple energy-saving programs to achieve greater project cost savings through available incentive opportunities. PG&E currently offers over 7 energy efficiency and renewable programs specifically designed for multifamily property owners, residents, and contractors that serve these properties that offer building upgrade assistance specifically to reduce energy and utility bill savings. Benefits to layering include identifying all potential incentive programs based on basic site characteristics and customer interests. Additional benefits can include streamlining of eligibility screening/applications, audits/site visits, scope of work design, and incentive payment timelines.
Program layering helps property owners save more money and time while delivering additional benefits to residents.
PG&E’s Energy Savings Assistance Common Area Measures (ESA CAM) program works with income-qualified and deed-restricted multifamily property owners/representatives to provide energy efficiency upgrades to central system equipment (i.e., domestic hot water and HVAC) and common areas such as community rooms, hallways, leasing offices, laundry rooms, outdoor recreation areas, parking lots and more. ESA CAM also works directly with PG&E’s Single Point of Contact (SPOC) that utilizes a one-stop model to help property owners and managers reach carbon-free affordable energy consumption through no-cost benchmarking and assistance with identifying and enrolling in other qualifying energy efficiency programs. SPOC can also refer customers to programs that incentivize solar photovoltaic (PV) installations, electric vehicle infrastructure, battery storage, water-saving measures, and financing.
